Overview

To support the University and College in achieving key institutional objectives, among them:


• Enhancement in the quality and scope of student academic, personal, and professional achievement.
• Ensuring the timely and appropriate processes regarding all aspects of the personnel process for managerial, professional, classified staff, temporary staff, and student workers.
• Improving administrative and resource support to faculty, staff, and students to achieve the College’s strategic mission.

Responsibilities

Working with the other members of the CEHS Dean’s Office, the Assistant Dean will be responsible for the following:

 

Student Services

  • Oversee student services for the College and develop programs, policies, and services for student support, in cooperation with academic departments.
  • Manage the Annual College Awards Ceremony and student scholarship process. Collaborate with Development Office in coordinating the Donor Dinner/Luncheon.
  • Manage the policy and process for student concerns and grievances.  Provide oversight and investigation into student concerns and grievances escalated to the Dean’s Office.
  • Develop and manage reports of academic dishonesty and Title IX issues.
  • Provide oversight of all student academic matters including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Coordinate and process management of student travel awards and scholarships.
  • Oversee all academic action forms (i.e. Grade Changes, Overloads, Request to Repeat a Course, etc.).
  • Coordinate the management of College Affiliation Agreements and clinical and internship/fieldwork assignments, in collaboration with the University Counsel.
  • Manage and coordinate updates to maintain up-to-date student webpages and social media sites.
  • Oversee the Student Advisory Council meetings for the College and all communication.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Office of Student Development and Campus Life.

 

Administrative Affairs

  • Manage the College personnel functions for all managerial, professional, classified staff, temporary staff, and student hires.
  • Serve as the liaison to the Human Resources Office.
  • Coordinate the search process for professional and managerial staff.
  • Coordinate new hire, onboarding, and orientation process and/or procedures for the College for all professional and managerial staff.
  • Oversee the performance evaluation process for CWA staff and the performance evaluations, reappointments, and reclassifications for professional staff.
  • Support the performance evaluation process for managerial staff.
  • Develop and implement professional development programs for classified, professional staff, and managers.
  • Manage the personnel actions process for the College, including serving as liaison/designee for the hiring and time approval process in Workday.
  • Coordinate the training of staff regarding new personnel procedures or changes in those procedures.
  • Review and process approvals/payment forms for managerial and professional staff teaching assignments.
  • Oversee the Staff Advisory Council.
  • Manage the process for professional development funds for professional staff and student travel awards.
  • Supervise graduate student worker(s). Assist with the supervision and training of student workers.

 

Technology and Operations

  • Oversee strategic planning for capital projects for the College.
  • Supervise the College of Education and Human Services Director of the Office of Technology Services and Facilities Operations.
  • Supervise the College of Education and Human Services Director of the ADP Center for Learning Technologies.

 

Other

  • Represent CEHS on University committees regarding student support services, academic advising, and University Commencement Ceremonies. Serve on other committees as designated by the Dean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Dean.

Qualifications

Required:

A Master’s degree in an appropriate academic discipline
A minimum of four years experience or equivalent in educational administration at the college or university level. Superior communication and administrative skills. Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to the College’s mission, and ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to demonstrate initiative and leadership, to follow through on suggestions, and to report results in a timely manner. Ability to handle and generate statistical data.

 

Preferred:

A doctoral degree in an appropriate academic discipline. Familiarity with Canvas, Banner, DegreeWorks, Starfish, and WorkDay systems.
