    Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Benefits, Leave Management & Workers Compensation, the Benefits Analyst will be responsible for independently performing professional work of considerable difficulty, oversight and coordination of the day-to-day operations of the Benefits team including, but not limited to health, prescription, dental, pension, ACA, retirement benefits, COBRA, Leave of Absence, ADA, and Workers Compensation programs.

    Responsibilities

    • Serves as deputy to the Associate Director and liaison with departments, employees, vendors, State of New Jersey contacts to address benefits related needs.
    • Assists in administering and interpreting departmental procedures, policies, and ensuring compliance with University policy, contractual requirements, and standard benefits procedures.
    • Leads the administration of benefits to include, but not limited to health, prescription, dental, pension and retirement benefits, ACA, COBRA, Leave of Absence, ADA, wellness benefits, unemployment claims and Workers’ Compensation.
    • Leads the audit of internal and external system reports to ensure employee and dependent status for accurate benefit eligibility, elections, deductions, coverage, and verifies for accuracy. Maintains open communication with Payroll to ensure specified deadlines are met.
    • Collaborates with the Workday operations team and IT technical team on implementing yearly changes to benefits enrollments, pension deductions, premiums, and ACA.
    • Ensures the accurate payment to benefits vendors and reporting of all University employee benefits, in compliance with the provision of laws, federal/state regulations, and university policy.
    • Supports in organizing, modifying, and facilitating, Employee Benefits workshops designed to assist employees to obtain information and understand the benefits and other related incentive programs.
    • Tracks, communicates and processes enrollments for individuals offered coverage in compliance with the Affordable Care Act.
    • Responsible for auditing State of New Jersey benefits/pension reports and to collaborate with the Division of Finance to resolve data discrepancies by identifying, investigating, analyzing report errors/inconsistencies, and provide timely resolutions.
    • Reviews and provide recommendations on all medical documentation and work-related accident reports for completeness and clarity of data to ensure compliance with policy and regulatory requirements.
    • Provides backup support for the Benefits team in conducting new hire orientations, annual open enrollment and maintains and update benefits orientation materials.
    • Performs other benefits related tasks and miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED:

    • At least three years of employee benefits related administration experience.
    • Working experience with pertinent federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including OSHA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA, NJFLA, ADA

    PREFERRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, or related field.
    • Working experience in administering benefits in a higher education or non-profit institution.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
    • Working experience with State system (MBOS, PMIS, EPIC) and advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Excel and PowerPoint in particular).
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with tight/changing deadlines.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Exceptional organization and customer service skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills.
