  • Overview

    Reporting to the Director of Information Security & Identity Management (ISIM), performs duties as a junior member of the information security team in support of the Division of Information Technology’s Information Security Program.


    • Researches latest information security threats, provides advisement to the security team, and participates in incident response activities as assigned.
    • Performs analytical and technical work in planning and implementing security related solutions.
    • Assists with solution proposals including requirements gathering, product evaluation, collecting cost information, and project development activities.
    • Assists in service desk ticket management.
    • Develops reports around auditing, logging, and incident response activities.
    • Assists with log auditing and analysis gathered from a variety of network, client, and server sources.
    • Assists in compliance related activities as may be assigned.
    • Develops scripting or command procedures to enhance the deployment or functionality of security related solutions.
    • Maintains task and project status reports as requested by management.



    • Graduation from an accredited university/college with an Associate's Degree or higher  in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field, or a minimum of three years of experience working in an information security related position.
    • Ability to work both independently and also collaboratively with team members.
    • Ability to follow guidelines as written and to document steps taken.
    • Ability to write clear and precise documentation and to organize facts and data into reports intended for system/security administrators and engineers.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality when dealing with sensitive information.
    • Willingness and personal commitment to expanding his/her knowledge and experience in the area of information security.


    • At least one year of professional experience performing information security related work.
    • Possesses one or more certificates from an industry recognized professional security training provider, such as SANS, in information security related topics.
    • Basic knowledge and experience with a variety of computer operating systems. (Windows, Linux, macOS, etc.)
    • Basic knowledge and understanding of computer networking.
    • A strong conceptual understanding of information security attack methodologies, common threats and vulnerabilities, and how to assess and minimize them.
    • Experience with security tools such as antivirus, application whitelisting, file integrity checking, data encryption, password managers, network auditing and scanning, and mobile device management.
