  • Overview

    Reporting to the Director of Broadcast and Media Operations (BMO), the Broad and Media Operations Engineer serves as one of the College of the Arts' technology leaders. Primary responsibilities include maintenance of the radio station, television studios, multi-platform newsroom, television location equipment such as cameras, audio gear, still cameras, laptops, radio station servers as well as the accompanying software. The Broad and Media Operations Engineer will provide technical expertise and support to growing academic programs that use the television and radio facilities. Familiarity with internet audio and video streaming software and interest in evaluating new technologies for integration with existing facilities are required.


    The successful candidate will join a team of full-time engineers in Broadcast and Media Operations. BMO provides service to faculty, academic departments and schools within the College of the Arts, as well as both on and off campus clients and industry partners. Broad and Media Operations Engineer is expected to work in all areas and with all users of the unit as assigned.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    • Maintenance and engineering support of radio and television equipment and facilities
    • Engineering support of professional clients and of University-sponsored projects
    • Technical support for academic programs and for extra-curricular student activities
    • Interaction with a variety of constituents, from the Dean, faculty and professional staff, to undergraduate students
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Bachelor's Degree with at least 3-4 years related engineering experience in studio, control room operations or equivalent extensive professional experience. Post-production video and audio work in an Avid Environment platform ideal.

    Knowledge of and experience in television technical operations including broadcast equipment maintenance, live and recorded television events, studio and field production.

    Appropriate attitude and interpersonal skills for operation successfully in a customer-focused academic environment.



    A degree from an accredited college preferred, although candidates with extensive professional record as a substitute may be considered. Knowledge of IT technology in conjunction with broadcast systems preferred. Engineering experience in internet, radio, mobile technology and digital media preferred.
